Physicians, nurses, mental-health professionals, community advocates, and sickle cell warriors came together in San Jose for the 17th Annual Sickle Cell Disease Educational Summit and Cayenne Wellness Retreat—an event dedicated to advancing knowledge, strengthening community, and uplifting the voices most impacted by sickle cell disease.

Sickle cell remains one of the most painful and under-resourced conditions in modern healthcare, requiring not only clinical expertise but deep compassion and cultural awareness. Our team approached this project with that same level of intentionality. From pre-production to on-site coverage, we ensured every story, conversation, and shared experience was treated with dignity, accuracy, and care.

Throughout the retreat, we documented the powerful discussions, the transformative workshops, and the emotional moments of connection that make this event so essential for the sickle cell community. Our goal was to create daily recap videos that were as energizing and informative as the summit itself: capturing not just information, but the spirit of healing, empowerment, and joy that filled each room.

By highlighting the camaraderie between attendees and the tireless work of Cayenne Wellness, we transformed these moments into long-lasting, high-quality content that will continue to uplift the community long after the event. Our coverage celebrates the resilience of sickle cell warriors and the incredible dedication of the professionals who advocate for better care, better research, and better outcomes every day.

The Ask

For the 17th Annual Sickle Cell Disease Educational Summit and Cayenne Wellness Retreat, our team was entrusted with capturing the heart, impact, and energy of the entire experience through a full suite of creative and social content. We managed real-time social media coverage, ensuring attendees and online audiences stayed engaged with updates, highlights, and inspiring moments throughout the event. Each day, we produced polished daily video recaps that distilled the most meaningful sessions, conversations, and community interactions—allowing participants to relive the experience and giving those who couldn’t attend a window into the Summit’s powerful atmosphere. We also conducted and filmed testimonial interviews that spotlighted patient stories, professional insights, and the transformative role Cayenne Wellness plays in the sickle cell community. To encapsulate the event as a whole, we created a cinematic recap film that elevated the retreat’s essence—its joy, its vulnerability, and its collective strength—into a lasting piece of visual storytelling. Together, these deliverables provided both immediate engagement and long-term assets that will continue advancing awareness, education, and empowerment across the sickle cell community.

Our photography team approached the Summit with the goal of capturing the essence of every moment in a way that felt natural, warm, and true to the spirit of the event. We documented keynote presentations, breakout sessions, wellness activities, and candid interactions with an emphasis on authenticity and emotional depth. From portraits of attendees and speakers to vibrant images of community engagement, each photo was carefully composed to highlight the resilience, joy, and connection that define the sickle cell community. For the testimonial video, our team created a seven minute recap that centered the voices and lived experiences of the sickle cell community. We conducted interviews with physicians, caregivers, advocates, and warriors, capturing honest reflections on the Summit’s impact and the ongoing work of Cayenne Wellness. These conversations were woven together with event footage to create a cohesive and emotionally powerful narrative that highlights both the challenges and the triumphs within the community.
