Newviews Connects partnered with Sentara to host an inspiring faith-based luncheon this November. This powerful display of unity and purpose, brought together faith-leaders and health advocates to discuss how spiritual leadership can advance health equity and strengthen support networks for the community.
The luncheon offered a platform for impactful conversations, as local leaders shared their experiences and strategies for addressing health disparities in our community. Central to the discussion was the question of Sentara can support the congregations and their families. Participants explored innovative ways Sentara can collaborate with spiritual leaders to address the health challenges faced by their congregations and neighborhoods. By working together, Sentara and local faith leaders can create more equitable access to healthcare, ensuring that everyone in the community has the opportunity to lead a healthy life.
The luncheon welcomed key figures who are actively making a difference in their congregations and beyond. Representatives from array of religions and communities came together to discuss the physical and spiritual health of their communities. Rev. Roscoe Cooper III, Pastor Larry Miles, Dr. Omega Wilson, and Greta Randolph of St. Paul's Baptist Church spearheaded conversations regarding the health of their baptist churches, and how disparities might be addressed. Our goal was to bring an array of communities together, and we hope to include even more faith leaders in our next luncheon. They underscored the importance of interfaith collaboration in tackling issues that affect their communities, such as access to healthcare, mental health support, and social services. The discussions highlighted the need for a holistic approach to community health, one that intertwines physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions, fostering an environment where all individuals feel supported and valued. As we work together to create lasting impact and forge stronger connections, let us remember that each conversation we have contributes to a larger narrative of growth and progress. Looking ahead, we are excited to invite other faith-leaders for open houses December 2nd, 9th, and 16th. Together, we can build a resilient community that not only addresses immediate needs but also lays the groundwork for future generations.
At Newviews Connects, we are dedicated to nurturing these critical conversations that touch upon various aspects of health, wellness, and community engagement. Our mission is to support the shared vision of creating a healthier, more unified community, one where every voice is heard, and every individual feels valued. We believe that through collaboration and open dialogue, we can address the challenges facing our community and work towards sustainable solutions that benefit everyone.
